About the Artist:
Hi, I’m Marie! I am a ceramicist residing in Palm Springs, CA. Originally form Okemos, Michigan, I studied Studio Art in college, and discovered my passion for working clay, mainly sculpting and shaping by hand.
I picked up the clay and loved the smooth feeling and idea that I could sculpt anything that came to mind. I was first taught to throw, but something wasn’t clicking for me with the wheel. I began to explore hand building and rolled a few slabs, sculpting them into a tall rectangular vase. But the tall rectangle didn’t fulfill my vision until I decided to sculpt petals and a stem to attach to the top of the vessel winding down the side of the vase. Thats when I knew, what came naturally to me - hand building and sculpting botanical objects.
That tall vase is still one of my favorite items I’ve made. Maybe it’s because it is where I started or where I developed my passion. Since then, I have been sculpting flower after flower figuring out what to attach them to next.
I now specialize in flower tiles, flower etched vessels, and candle holders with each piece being one of a kind. The more flowers I make, the better I get at making them look delicate and soft.
If you’re interested in a certain item, please reach out by clicking « request a custom build » or by email and tell me what your favorite plant, flower, or organism is! Or better yet, send a picture for inspiration! I’ll do my best to make it look as realistic as possible.
